Description
The Hard Arkansas Hone is a natural sharpening stone made from traditional Arkansas novaculite, designed for refining and improving an already sharpened knife edge. It is typically used after a coarser stone, such as a Soft Arkansas hone, to further smooth and polish the blade.
With a hard 450–650 grit range, this stone is ideal for edge refinement, helping remove fine scratches and improve sharpness without aggressively removing material. Arkansas stones are known for their unique ability to both cut and polish simultaneously, producing a clean, refined edge with improved performance.
For best results, it is used with Nathan’s Natural® Honing Oil, which lubricates the stone, helps carry away metal particles, and enhances sharpening efficiency.
The hone features an ergonomic plastic housing for comfortable handling and a threaded brass insert for secure attachment to compatible sharpening systems.
